Upcoming film

Since August 2010, I have been working on a small film, consisting mostly of timelapse and landscape photography.  I have traveled to Mt. Pinos, Lake Cachuma, Bosque Del Apache, the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon (I have posted a sample shot from my Grand Canyon trip in this post) and locations around Santa Barbara.  In 2011 I photographed Joshua Tree National Park, Mono Lake, Palm Springs, CA and city-scapes around the Los Angeles area.

Undoubtedly, there has been a glut of time lapse centric short films, and I am certainly guilty of being inspired by masters like Tom Lowe who has, by the sheer beauty of his imagery, ignited many to follow in his footsteps.  My little, humble short film is more of a travelogue, making use of still images, time lapse and motion pictures to document my trips across the American Southwest.  I have aimed not for fancy camera moves with the latest and greatest bit of camera gear because, besides from being entirely out of my reach, they have become almost a perfunctory part of the Vimeo community of filmmaking.  I am more and more interested in capturing the inscrutable beauty of nature through the least technically complicated means possible.  I hope to be finished with this project in late 2012 when I have had time to finish shooting and compile everything into an 8 minute non-narrative short.  I just hope the timelapse/landscape "genre" won't be utterly repulsive and burnt out!
